How did it happen?<\/p>\n<p>In this article, guest author Doug Schoon, <em><strong>Nail Structure and Product Chemistry<\/strong><\/em>, will cover<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How and why those white spots happen<\/li>\n<li>Give you microscopic proof of damage<\/li>\n<li>And what you or your nail technician can do to prevent these white spots<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How It Happens<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Doug-Schoon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Doug-Schoon-196x300.jpg\" alt=\"Doug-Schoon author Nail structure and product chemistry\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>When small white spots appear on the nail plate after removal of the UV nail color coatings, a likely reason is <strong>improper removal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the vast majority of this type of nail damage is <strong>completely avoidable.\u00a0<em>How?\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By taking the <strong>appropriate time, care and caution<\/strong> when removing UV nail color coatings, precisely <strong>following<\/strong> the manufacturer&#8217;s instructions, and fully heeding all recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s good advice for removing any type of UV nail coating.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">The 60 Second\/60 Minute Rule<\/h1>\n<h1><em>&#8220;Use the utmost care for 60 minutes after immersing natural nails in any liquid for more than 60 seconds.&#8221;<\/em><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Why Does Nail Damage Occur?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Soaking<\/strong> the natural nail for even a few minutes in acetone or water will <strong>temporarily soften<\/strong> the surface making it temporarily <strong>more susceptible<\/strong> to damage from any <strong>implements<\/strong> that <strong>pry, push or force<\/strong> the remaining residual UV coating from the nail plate.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, a good rule to follow is, &#8220;use the utmost care for 60 minutes after immersing natural nails in any liquid for more than 60 seconds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Below are four magnified images I collected, using a <strong>scanning electron microscope<\/strong>, to show the result of natural nail damage caused by improper removal of UV nail color coatings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1734\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Remove-Gel-Nails-Peeling-off-Gel.jpg\" alt=\"Remove-Gel-Nails-Peeling-off-Gel Doug Schoon\" width=\"345\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Remove-Gel-Nails-Peeling-off-Gel.jpg 345w, https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Remove-Gel-Nails-Peeling-off-Gel-300x262.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Prying UV Gel Coatings<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"> Image 1 is magnified over <\/span>3000 times<span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"> and shows damage caused by <\/span>&#8220;prying&#8221;
