Who doesn&#8217;t?<\/p>\n<p>In this article, you&#8217;ll learn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How I discovered why my polish was chipping after showering<\/li>\n<li>Why five layers of polish can be your best friend<\/li>\n<li>The fastest way to remove polish with a minimal acetone drying effect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Prevent Polish Chipping<\/h2>\n<p>We are all looking for ways to have our polish last longer and for a polish that doesn&#8217;t chip.<\/p>\n<p>For me, it started with a Google search in 2010, &#8220;How Do I Keep My Polish from Chipping in the Shower?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The solution came several months later after I had done over 200 hours of exhaustive research. I didn&#8217;t find the answer, but I did find the pieces of information necessary to create the answer.<\/p>\n<p>The quick answer is that nails absorb 1\/3rd their weight in water. When water is absorbed through the underside of your nail, it breaks the polish-to-nail bond. The long answer is here:\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;<a title=\"Fab 5 Polish Wrap How to keep polish from chipping in the shower\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/chipped-nail-polish-from-the-shower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How Do I Keep My Polish from Chipping in the Shower?<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I created the <strong>Fab 5 Polish Wrap<\/strong> to help\u00a0prevent my nails from absorbing water.<\/p>\n<p>Does it stop my nails from absorbing water if I&#8217;m doing dishes without gloves for 30 minutes? NO!<\/p>\n<p>But it does stop my nails from absorbing water in a 15 minute luxurious shower! And as a Mom to 4 active children and an entrepreneur, that&#8217;s all I need!<\/p>\n<p>The result, is that I can easily wear my nail polish for <strong>7 to 10 days without any chipping<\/strong>! And nail polish that doesn&#8217;t chip is especially appealing when I&#8217;ve spent a few hours creating <strong>gorgeous nail art\u2014I want it to stick around!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>The Fab 5 Wrap Overview<\/h1>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Two Base Coat Wraps<\/strong>: Apply 2 coats of ridge filling base coat, wrapping completely to the underside of exposed nail tip. Any polish that gets on your skin will wash or peel off. (OPI ridge filler is a good base coat.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two Color Coat<\/strong>: Keep an orange wood stick available to wipe polish off of skin before it dries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>One Top Coat Wrap<\/strong>: Apply 1 coat of your favorite quick dry top coat,\u00a0wrapping completely to the underside of exposed nail tip. If your nails are long enough, use a Q-Tip brand cotton swab with rubbing alcohol to clean the underside of the nail.\u00a0This removes the surface oils and dirt from your nails.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Basecoat Wrap:<\/strong> Use a good base coat, wrapping it around to the underside of your nail (not just capping your tips).<br \/>\n<em>* Base coat is formulated to bond to the NAIL surface.<br \/>\n<\/em><em><em>* Color nail polish is formulated to bond with base coat\u2014not nails.<\/em><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Color Coats:<\/strong> Apply 2 coats of\u00a0<strong><strong>colored nail polish.<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Topcoat Wrap:<\/strong> Completely\u00a0<strong>wrap<\/strong>\u00a0your nails with\u00a0<strong>topcoat<\/strong>\u00a0all the way to the underside.<br \/>\n<em><em>* A good topcoat\u00a0is also formulated to bond ONLY to nail lacquer (polish and base coat) and add a high gloss shine.<\/em><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Clean up your polish along the eponychium (&#8220;cuticle&#8221; line) using acetone and a makeup or artist brush.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div><em>* This creates a smooth, flush line with your nail. Steer away from any product labeled as basecoat AND topcoat. It will do neither one well. ~Ana<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Polish Removal<\/h2>\n<h2><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JF2zCQXpbVE\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/h2>\n<p>After 7 days,\u00a0<strong>remove<\/strong>\u00a0your polish with\u00a0<strong>acetone<\/strong>. This helped\u00a0<strong>prevent the dryness<\/strong>\u00a0acetone causes. I would slather oil up to my first knuckle. It&#8217;s so nice to be able to skip that step now!\u00a0<\/em><\/em>*<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Use Q-Tip\u2122 brand cotton swabs to remove the polish on the underside of your nails. I&#8217;ve tried cheaper brands and they&#8217;re just not as effective, perhaps because they&#8217;ve\u00a0wound\u00a0the cotton around the stick tighter than Q-Tip\u2122 does.<\/div>\n<h2>Nail Oil Mini-Hydration Cycle<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Apply a high quality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myblisskiss.com\/simply-pure-hydrating-oil-starter-kit-4-pens\/\">penetrating nail oil<\/a> to your nails about once an hour for the next 4 to 8 hours.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Or, do an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myblisskiss.com\/mini-hydration-kit\/\"><strong> intensive mini-hydration treatment<\/strong> <\/a>with latex gloves.
