As I follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/fab-5-polish-wrap-polish-chipping\/\">your 5 step wrap-around nail polish<\/a> advice, I don&#8217;t want to be using acetone any more often than 1 x per week. \u00a0Any advice on how to keep my nail colour fresh looking? ~Paula<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>ANSWER<\/h2>\n<p>Paula, this is such a great question.<\/p>\n<p>I was curious, so I did a quick internet search.\u00a0I found information about the popular color changing nail polishes, but nothing\u00a0that answers your question.<\/p>\n<p>If it\u00a0weren&#8217;t for my friend Donna, owner of Sweet Baby by Donna, I wouldn&#8217;t know how to answer your question.<\/p>\n<p>We used to carry our own line of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myblisskiss.com\">Bliss Kiss<\/a>\u2122 base and top coats. She told me that there were two white polishes that our top coat turned a toasted marshmallow shade.<\/p>\n<p>For her,\u00a0there was an <strong>interaction<\/strong> between one or more of the top coat ingredients causing the color changing.<\/p>\n<h3>Fear of Acetone<\/h3>\n<p>Although acetone is drying to the top surface layers of the nail plate, it&#8217;s a very important part of manicures.<\/p>\n<p>We have to remove the polish. But there are ways to minimize the drying effect.<\/p>\n<p>The first way is to <strong>only use pure acetone<\/strong>. Non-acetone nail polish <strong>removers<\/strong> dissolve polish\u00a0at a slower rate, so they are actually <strong>more drying<\/strong> to the skin and nail plate.<\/p>\n<p>The second way is to <strong>NEVER\u00a0scrub<\/strong> with acetone and a cotton ball.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s better to use a piece of cotton saturated with acetone and let it <strong>sit on the nail<\/strong> to dissolve the polish.<\/p>\n<p>I explain this in more detail in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/nail-polish-remover-tips\/\">Fastest Way to Remove Polish article<\/a> using my Soak and Swipe\u2122 method. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myblisskiss.com\/soak-swipe-manicure-clips\/\">manicure clips<\/a> help your body heat warm the acetone so it dissolves faster than when it&#8217;s cold.<\/p>\n<p>Another way to <strong>reverse<\/strong> the drying effect is to do a <strong>mini or overnight hydration<\/strong>. I have the steps listed in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nailcareheadquarters.com\/dry-skin-overnight-hydration-treatment\/\">Overnight Hydration article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These two\u00a0techniques will <strong>change your life<\/strong> and make the manicure process a lot more fun!<\/p>\n<h3>Ready To Test?<\/h3>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how I <strong>would test this over 6 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When doing any scientific test, you want to <strong>decrease your variables<\/strong> to one variable at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Start with <strong>just the polish<\/strong>. Don&#8217;t use a base or top coat. I would do this on just my pinky nails.<\/p>\n<p>If you were to apply it to all nails,\u00a0the polish would\u00a0be prone to a lot of tip\u00a0wear and chipping on the other nails. We want the polish to stay for at least two days.<\/p>\n<p>If\u00a0the polish changes color it&#8217;s highly possible that <strong>sun exposure<\/strong> is changing the color. Not all polishes have SPF ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>Now try again but\u00a0apply a <strong>base coat<\/strong> first. Does the color change in two days? If yes, then it could be an interaction with your base coat.<\/p>\n<p>For the last test, apply the <strong>top coat<\/strong> over the color.
